PetCloud doesn't provide pet care — we raise the standard of it. We connect pet owners with independently operating, police-checked and vet-endorsed-trained professionals, and give both parties the tools to manage every booking safely.
PetCloud is a technology platform, not a pet care provider. Pet care services are performed by independent service providers who operate their own businesses and set their own rates. PetCloud provides the booking infrastructure, promotes safety standards, vet endorsed training, and risk-reduction tools that connect pet owners who choose those providers — and helps guide better outcomes for pets and the people caring for them.
How the platform works
Understanding the distinction between platform, sitter, and owner responsibilities helps everyone get the best outcome.
PetCloud arranges biometric police checks through Australia's DVS before any sitter can list on the platform. This is mandatory — not optional.
PetCloud arranges thisPetCloud requests sitters to complete a vet-endorsed animal care qualification before accepting bookings.
This is optional. Sitters are responsible for ensuring they deliver a service with due care and skill. All bookings, messaging, scheduling, and payments flow through PetCloud's secure platform — giving both parties a clear record and protection.
PetCloud does thisPetCloud enables unaltered reviews to be published on a sitter's listing so other pet owners can read them and make their own informed judgement about who to trust with their pet.
PetCloud does thisThe pet care itself is performed by the independent sitter you choose and book. They operate their own business and are responsible for the care they provide.
Sitter does thisRead through reviews, choose a sitter with or without qualifications, care type, and interview before booking.
Mutual responsibility for ensuring properties are escape-proof and hazard-free before the booking begins.
Identity verification
Most platforms accept a document upload and call it done. PetCloud arranges biometric linking of every sitter's identity to their police check through the Australian Government's DVS — so you know the check belongs to the person entering your home.
Entire process is digital — no in-person visit needed.
Government-issued ID scanned with live biometric face match.
Govt ID confirmedIdentity checked against Australian Government DVS in real time.
DVS confirmedNational Crime Check linked to the verified identity — not a self-uploaded document.
Linked & verifiedOnly after all steps pass can the sitter accept bookings.
A Working With Children check only screens for offences specifically related to children. Platforms accepting WWCC have no access to the WWCC database — they cannot confirm whether the check is current, valid, or genuine. And even a legitimate WWCC tells you nothing about:
PetCloud arranges a process that biometrically confirms the sitter is who they say they are, verifies their identity document against the Australian Government DVS, and links that confirmed identity to a full National Crime Check. You're not trusting a document. You're trusting a verified person.
What "trained" actually means
When another platform says their sitters are "trained," ask what they were trained in. The answer matters more than most pet owners realise.
"It has been designed to help you understand pet behaviour, decrease the risk of dog fights, illness, accident, or escape. Overall, it will boost your pet sitting confidence in understanding the standards of care recommended by the RSPCA."
What the difference looks like
The standards a platform sets determines what happens when something unexpected occurs during a booking — and something always can.
The sitter found through the platform didn't recognise early signs of heatstroke. Had no emergency protocol. The platform set no qualification standard, so there was nothing to guide what happened when it mattered.
The sitter's identity was never truly verified. They and their associates used their unsupervised access to steal your property and drain your bank account. The platform accepted a self-uploaded document. No one confirmed who was actually in your home.
The sitter found and booked through PetCloud had completed a vet-endorsed qualification before ever accepting a booking. They knew what to watch for, how to respond, and who to call. The platform's standards guided a better outcome.
Their identity was biometrically verified against the Australian Government DVS before they ever listed on PetCloud. Their full National Crime Check — covering theft, fraud, violence, and more — was linked to that confirmed identity. You knew exactly who was in your home.
Every layer of the platform
The qualification is one layer. Here's what PetCloud's platform puts in place underneath every booking.
PetCloud arranges identity verification through Australia's DVS — not a self-reported background check. Every sitter is biometrically confirmed before they meet your pet.
National Crime Check via DVSPetCloud requests sitters to complete a vet-endorsed animal care qualification — covering emergencies, behaviour, first aid, and duty of care.

No hidden fees, everPetCloud is a booking and pet management platform. Pet care services are performed by independent service providers, not by PetCloud. While PetCloud promotes safety standards, requests qualification, and provides tools to guide and reduce risk — the care relationship is between you and your chosen sitter. We strongly recommend reviewing your sitter's profile, reviews, and the PetCloud Knowledge Base before booking.
