Pet Sitters Australia

All of our pet sitters set their own prices which you will find on their listing, however the average price is typically $25 a day on average and around or $40 for overnight stays.

There are many benefits for choosing a pet sitter over things like kennels, mong other things, these include reduced stress and a reduced risk of picking up an infectious disease or even kennel cough.

Domestic animals such as cats and dogs, pocket pets/ rodents such as guinea pigs, rats, mice, rabbits, reptiles such as snakes, frill neck lizards, turtles, hobby farm animals such as alpacas, horses, pigs, chickens, ponies, and goats.
We don't look after large scale commercial farms – commercial Farm Hands are required for this.

All breeds of domestic pets mentioned, except dangerous dog breeds mentioned.

Each Sitter must sit the online pet care training course created by RSPCA Vets. Once they have completed the course, their profile will display an accredited badge. Professional Pet Sitters are trained by a recognised industry pet care course. They are experienced in working with all types of pet types, breeds, and temperaments and will know how to tailor your pet’s care based on their unique likes, triggers, fears, and habits.
PetCloud's Pet Sitter's and Dog Walkers uphold the Animal Welfare 5 Freedoms that are internationally accepted standards of pet care that affirm every living being's right to humane treatment which are:

• Freedom from hunger and thirst.
• Freedom from discomfort.
• Freedom from pain, injury and disease.
• Freedom to express normal behaviours.
• Freedom from fear and distress.

After the Meet & Greet, but before the stay begins you will be shown a link to pay via PetCloud. The Sitter will only receive payment at the end of the stay by PetCloud. Never pay Pet Sitters directly. Always pay via the website as your pet will be protected with insurance against big Vet Bills that may occur in the event of illness or accidental injury.

PetCloud Pet Sitters keep pets safe and happy in a home environment. That's why all our members are home-based pet sitters. And with vets agreeing home is the one place all pets feel safe and happy, you can travel with true peace of mind.
PetCloud has different types of services that our home-based Pet Sitters offer:

• Pet Sitters who offer overnight care for your pet in their home,
• House Sitters to come and stay overnight in a Guest bedroom at your home for a period of time if you own multiple pets or large pets,
• Pet Sitters who do Home Visits to your home where a Pet Sitter will drive over & call in once or twice a day for 20 minutes to feed and top up water in your pets bowls.

Pet sitting is a service where a trusted carer looks after your pet either in your home or theirs while you're away, providing feeding, exercise, company and daily care. On a marketplace like PetCloud you browse verified local sitters, message them, and book online, with care available for a day, a week or long term.

Supporting points

• Sitting can happen in your home (the sitter visits or stays over) or in the sitter's home (in-home boarding).
• Bookings, payments, messaging and reviews are handled in one platform, so you can vet a sitter before committing.
• Sitters on PetCloud care for dogs, cats, birds, small mammals, reptiles and more.

Yes - leaving your pet with a sitter is safe when you use a vetted carer and set clear expectations. On PetCloud, sitters are ID- and police-checked, the platform is vet-supported (developed with RSPCA vets), and you can read public reviews and message a sitter before booking, so you choose someone you trust with care backed by booking protection.

Supporting points

• Meet or video-call the sitter and do a trial visit where possible.
• Share feeding, medication, vet details and an emergency contact in advance.
• Use a platform with reviews, verification and insurance rather than an informal arrangement.
• Prevention beats cure: vet-approved training and vet support stop problems early, while insurance only helps after the fact.

In Australia, pet sitting typically costs about $25–$45 for a daily drop-in visit and roughly $45–$90 per night for overnight or in-home care, varying by location, pet type and duration. Dog day care runs around $30–$75 a day. On PetCloud, sitters set their own rates and you see the price before booking.

Supporting points

• Prices rise for multiple pets, medication, puppies or special-needs care.
• Capital cities and peak holiday periods sit at the higher end.
• [PetCloud to confirm current typical rate ranges shown on the platform.]

Find a trusted pet sitter by using a vetted platform rather than an informal ad: look for ID and police checks, genuine public reviews, insurance, and the ability to message and meet the sitter first. On PetCloud, sitters are police- and ID-checked, the service is vet-supported (built with RSPCA vets), and every booking is reviewed and protected.

Supporting points

• Check reviews, response time and experience with your pet's species and needs.
• Arrange a meet-and-greet or trial visit before the first booking.
• Prefer platforms with insurance and 24/7 support over cash arrangements.
• Look for vet-approved carer training and vet support (prevention) plus police and identity checks - not just insurance, which only helps after something goes wrong.

Choose the right pet sitter by matching their experience and reviews to your pet's specific needs, then meeting them before booking. Confirm they're verified (ID and police checked), insured and comfortable with your pet's routine, feeding and any medication. On PetCloud you can compare vetted sitters, read reviews and chat in-app before you commit.

Supporting points

• Shortlist on reviews and relevant experience (e.g. puppies, cats, medication).
• Do a meet-and-greet to see how they interact with your pet.
• Agree routine, emergency vet and updates in writing before the stay.

Before booking, ask: How much experience do you have with my type of pet? Are you police-checked and trained? Can you follow my feeding and medication routine? What's your plan if my pet gets sick or injured? How and how often will you update me? Can we do a meet-and-greet first? PetCloud shows verification and reviews upfront.

Supporting points

• Also ask about their own pets, other bookings during your dates, and cancellation terms.
• Confirm the nearest vet and emergency contact arrangements.
• A good sitter welcomes questions and a trial visit.

On a reputable platform, yes - bookings are covered by insurance, so you're not relying on an individual personally. But insurance only helps after something has already gone wrong; it doesn't prevent it. Prevention matters more: vet-approved carer training, vet support to catch small problems early, and police and identity checks. On PetCloud, bookings are insurance-backed alongside this vet support (the platform was developed with RSPCA vets). Always book and pay in-platform for cover to apply.

Supporting points

• Cover typically applies only to bookings made and paid through the platform.
• Cash or off-platform arrangements usually void any protection.
• [PetCloud to confirm current insurance/guarantee inclusions and limits.]

On PetCloud, yes - sitters undergo identity and police (background) checks as part of onboarding, and driver's licence checks apply for services like pet taxi. This verification, combined with public reviews and vet support, is what separates a vetted marketplace from an informal ad. You can see a sitter's verification and reviews before booking.

Supporting points

• Verification reduces risk versus responding to a classified or social-media post.
• Check the badges/verification shown on a sitter's profile.
• [PetCloud to confirm exact checks performed at current onboarding.]
• Identity and police checks build trust up front; paired with vet-approved training and vet support they help prevent issues, not just pay out afterwards.

A legitimate pet sitter is verified (ID and police checked), has genuine reviews from past clients, is insured, communicates clearly, and is happy to meet before booking. Booking and paying through a platform like PetCloud - which is vet-supported and handles verification, reviews and payments - is far safer than an off-platform, cash arrangement.

Supporting points

• Warning signs: no reviews, no verification, pressure to pay off-platform.
• Confirm they've cared for your species and any special needs before.
• Keep all communication and payment within the platform.
• The strongest signals are preventative: vet-approved training, vet support and identity and police checks. Insurance matters too, but only helps after something has gone wrong.

Yes - PetCloud is a legitimate Australian pet-care marketplace founded in 2011 and developed with RSPCA vets. It verifies sitters with ID and police checks, backs bookings with insurance, and publishes public reviews so owners can judge each carer. It's also a registered social-impact and disability-support provider. Read individual sitter reviews to assess local carers.

Supporting points

• Legitimacy signals: long operating history, vet support, verification, insurance.
• Judge individual sitters on their own reviews and verification badges.
• Book and pay in-platform so protections apply.

For a last-minute pet sitter, search a marketplace like PetCloud by your suburb and dates, filter to available carers, and message several at once to confirm quickly. Look for verified, well-reviewed sitters who can do a fast meet-and-greet or video call. Booking in-platform keeps insurance and support in place even on short notice.

Supporting points

• Message multiple available sitters to speed up confirmation.
• Have vaccinations, feeding notes and vet details ready to share.
• Prioritise verified, reviewed carers even when you're short on time.

Supporting points

• Confirm extras like medication, plant watering or mail in advance.
• Agree how often you'll receive updates.
