I explained to Michelle clearly that I only use positive reinforcement force free training with my puppy Magnus. Michelle agreed that’s the method she uses. All seemed okay except when we were standing in the front yard after their walk having a chat about Magnus who was very excited and so smitten with Michelle that he kept jumping up for more attention, Michelle suddenly jammed her knee into his chest/belly area causing Magnus to fall on his back and roll over hard enough to upturn a pot plant Michelle yelled ‘down’! then continued speaking to me as though nothing unusual had just happened. When I messaged her later to cancel future bookings explaining why, Michelle messaged back in a very abrupt manner that I was just being an ‘over sensitive dog owner’ and that she hadn’t used force on Magnus. There were several more points made by Michelle and denials but I don’t see the point in going through it all. This was my first venture into having a dog walker and I know now that anyone can write a blurb about loving all creatures great and small but you need to be vigilant to see the red flags in what applicants say or do to find the genuine, knowledgeable, hopefully trained animal carers.

Michelle has been working at our veterinary clinic for 3 months and she has proven to be a very reliable and trustworthy person. Michelle has great abilities to connect with animals and is very experienced in how to handle pets in different situations. It has been a pleasure to work with her and we can highly recommend her as a pet sitter!
