We wanted to find an easy to make recipe that was quick and healthy for dogs and we stumbled across a blog called "The Sustainable Couple" check them out. It's a blog about the self-sufficiency pursuits of an Iowa couple living on a homestead in the city. First, gather the following ingredients:
2 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. peanut butter
1 T. baking powder
Yes, that's it. Next, mix the peanut butter and milk in a large bowl until smooth. Add everything else into that same large bowl, mix well, and pop it in the fridge for about 20 minutes or so, which will allow the dough to be workable. After about 20 minutes, grab a hunk of the dough and plop it onto a lightly floured surface.
While your oven is preheating, roll out the dough.
Then grab your pizza cutter and cut squares of whatever size you'd like. I cut mine pretty small, since I have a tendency to give out lots of treats :)
Arrange the dough on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and crunchy.
Make sure the treats are slightly crunchy! I mean, your dogs aren't going to care one way or another, but if you fill up your treat jar, you're going to want crunchy treats.
