{"id":181408,"date":"2018-02-01T12:37:24","date_gmt":"2018-02-01T02:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.petcloud.com.au\/d\/how-do-i-get-my-puppy-to-sleep-through-the-night\/"},"modified":"2025-01-19T07:41:01","modified_gmt":"2025-01-18T21:41:01","slug":"how-do-i-get-my-puppy-to-sleep-through-the-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.petcloud.com.au\/d\/blog\/how-do-i-get-my-puppy-to-sleep-through-the-night\/","title":{"rendered":"How Do I Get My Puppy To Sleep Through The Night?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"font-style: italic\">Your gorgeous new fur baby&nbsp;is bundles of fun but is waking you up at all hours of the night, so how do you get your puppy to sleep through the night.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<p>Justin Jordan from Jordan Dog Training says one of the most common questions he gets about new puppies is how do I get my puppy to sleep through the night when they wake up at 3:30am wanting to play.<\/p>\n<p>There are many reasons why a puppy won\u2019t sleep through the night but Jordan shares with us the most common issue and how to resolve them.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#52c4be\"><span style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>MOST COMMON REASONS FOR AN ALERT PUPPY<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe find the most common issue is that people are allowing the puppy to go to sleep straight after it has had dinner around 6pm,\u201d Jordan says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe challenge with this is that the puppy will normally happily sleep until you go to bed at 10:30pm or so, you will wake the puppy up and take it for its mandatory toilet break before it goes to bed for the rest of the night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While this may seem like a good plan, Jordan says this technique is how potential problem can arise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe puppy has now already had 4 to 5 hours sleep and you are now expecting it to go back to bed and sleep for another 8 or 9 hours,\u201d Jordan says &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough a puppy will generally sleep for 16 to 18 hours a day, this obviously won\u2019t be in one stretch.\u201d<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#52c4be\"><span style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>THE SOLUTION FOR A GOOD NIGHTS REST<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Jordan suggests altering your puppy\u2019s body clock by keeping them active or awake until you are ready to go to bed will give you a more restful night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe puppy\u2019s sleeping pattern will then be more in sync with yours, and it will be more likely to sleep through until 7am,\u201d Jordan says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBe mindful that several other factors may be contributing to the problem.\u201d<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#52c4be\"><span style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>OTHER REASONS YOUR PUPPY MAY BE AN EARLY RISER<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Is the sun coming into the puppy\u2019s room and waking it up?<\/p>\n<p>Is it a quiet room where puppy is sleeping, or are there neighbours or birds nearby that might be waking the puppy?<\/p>\n<p>Is the puppy\u2019s room too big?
